brand identity

By nature, Ferment is a company that blends art and science to power the creation of new companies developing on its synthetic biology platform. Portraying the brand identity through the beauty of nature and biology using petri dish art not only reflected that blend of art and science, but also created a connection to the parent company, Ginkgo Bioworks.

Our team of writers are storytellers by nature. We start with deep dive briefing with the client to understand the company and its connection to its customers, in order to tell their story to their audience in a unique and compelling way.

Out of our conversations with Ferment, we shaped their value proposition as a company creation studio using programmable biology to create endless opportunities to improve human welfare. We then used that value proposition to write their website copy and video script.

website design and development

Once the brand identity was created and website copy was written, we created the design for the website, using the petri dish artwork as well as splashes of spectral color to create a vibrant, exciting site for their audience. We developed the site on the Webflow platform, allowing us to develop in just a few days to meet an aggressive launch deadline.

During the writing phase of the website project, we wrote a headline that would become the genesis of a video header.

“The future won’t be mined, extracted, wired or launched. It will be grown.”

While we developed the site, our video editors put together the video that underscored the idea of growth through color, shape and movement.
